Classification of High-Voltage Switchgear

By Circuit Breaker Type
Classified by circuit breaker mounting method into withdrawable (truck-type) and fixed types:
(1) Withdrawable or truck-type (designated by "Y"): Indicates that the main electrical components (e.g., circuit breakers) inside the cabinet are mounted on a removable truck. Due to the excellent interchangeability of truck-type cabinets, power supply reliability is significantly enhanced. Common truck types include isolation trucks, metering trucks, circuit breaker trucks, PT (voltage transformer) trucks, capacitor trucks, and station service transformer trucks (e.g., KYN28A-12).
(2) Fixed type (designated by "G"): Indicates that all electrical components inside the cabinet (e.g., circuit breakers or load-break switches) are installed in a fixed manner. Fixed switchgear cabinets are relatively simple and economical (e.g., XGN2-10, GG-1A).

By Installation Location
Classified by installation location into indoor and outdoor types:
(1) Indoor use (designated by "N"): Indicates installation and use are restricted to indoor environments (e.g., KYN28A-12 switchgear);
(2) Outdoor use (designated by "W"): Indicates suitability for outdoor installation and use (e.g., XLW switchgear).

By Cabinet Structure
Classified by cabinet structure into four major categories: metal-enclosed armored switchgear, metal-enclosed compartmented switchgear, metal-enclosed box-type switchgear, and open-type switchgear:
(1) Metal-enclosed armored switchgear (designated by the letter "K"): Metal-enclosed switchgear in which major components (e.g., circuit breakers, instrument transformers, busbars) are installed in separate compartments isolated by grounded metal partitions (e.g., KYN28A-12 high-voltage switchgear).
(2) Metal-enclosed compartmented switchgear (designated by the letter "J"): Similar to armored metal-enclosed switchgear, with major electrical components installed in separate compartments, but featuring one or more non-metallic partitions that meet specific protection class requirements (e.g., JYN2-12 high-voltage switchgear).
(3) Metal-enclosed box-type switchgear (designated by the letter "X"): Switchgear featuring a metal-enclosed outer casing. Such as the XGN2-12 type high-voltage switchgear.
(4) Open-type switchgear: switchgear with no specific enclosure protection rating, featuring an enclosure that is partially open. Such as the GG-1A(F) type high-voltage switchgear.
